Ricardo Mateu studied Architecture at Kingston University in London, where his diploma project was awarded the BCA Prize for best concrete structure. He graduated in 1995 and was elected as a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects in1996. More recently, in 2011, Ricardo completed a Master in Architectural Management and Design at the prestigious IE Business School in Madrid, Spain.
In 20 years of professional practice Ricardo has worked with renowned international practices such as Rafael Viñoly Architects, Santiago Calatrava and Foster + Partners where, in a career spanning over 15 years, he rose through the ranks to Partner in 2008 and acting Director of Foster + Partners Madrid from 2007 until 2010. As Director he was responsible for projects such as the award winning Torre Caja Madrid, which at 250m in height, is the tallest building in Spain.
Sonia joined UHA London in 2013 and initially worked on Omkar 1973, overseeing the documentation and co-ordination of the façade and all external areas. She took project leadership on UHA’s Torre Alameda, a new 135m tall office tower in the historic centre of México City. More recently Sonia has worked on a number of high-rise and super high-rise projects across India and Kazakhstan.
Sonia graduated with honours on her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in 2004. In 2006 Sonia travelled to Italy to obtain a Master’s degree in Interior Design from the Politecnico di Milano, where she graduated in 2007. After graduating she joined Foster + Partners where she worked for 4 years on a range of projects including the Sheik Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi. Afterwards she joined an interior design studio based in London for 2 years, working mainly on luxury residential projects.
Jonas Upton-Hansen was educated at the Architectural Association in London. After graduating in the year 2000, he joined Foster + Partners where he collaborated on projects including the McLaren Formula 1 UK headquarters and Monaco Yacht Club amongst others.
In 2005, Jonas joined the office of Murphy Jahn in Chicago as Associate Principal. Under the direction of Helmut Jahn, Jonas collaborated on numerous prestigious projects including the 40 storey Fairbanks Court residential tower in Chicago; the 60 storey West Street hotel and condominium tower in Manhattan; the LEED Gold certified 1999 K Street in Washington DC for Vornado; and various other large scale projects across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Jonas is a registered Architect in England, France and Denmark.
Sanhita formally joined UHA in 2015 as Director of the Mumbai office, after having consulted for the firm previously. She frequently visits UHA’s head office in London for design workshops and to ensure the successful coordination of Indian projects with UHA’s team in London as well as with other UK based consultants. Before joining UHA, Sanhita was working at Foster + Partners in London for 4 years, working on key projects like the ‘1973 Worli’ residential towers in Mumbai, ‘The One’ residential tower in Toronto and the ‘New York Public Library.’
Sanhita has been actively involved in architecture and landscape design research for conferences, books and films. Her research on Textile Architecture and new methods for digital on-site construction received a thesis distinction from the Architectural Association. She received her M.Arch in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association in London. A graduate from the School of Planning and Architecture, Sanhita has worked as an architectural and landscape consultant to various firms in the United Kingdom and India.
Esteban joined UHA London in 2014, as Senior Associate in charge of overseeing technical detailing and project specification. From 2011 to 2014 Esteban collaborated with John McAslan + Partners in diverse urban design, residential, educational and cultural projects in the United Kingdom, Russia, Colombia, Uganda and Qatar. Before that he spent 6 years working with HMC Architects in California, as Project Designer for educational campuses, healthcare institutions and civic buildings.
He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture in Colombia in 2002. In 2011 Esteban completed a Master in Design and Urbanism at the Architectural Association in London, receiving a distinction for his thesis project concerning collaborative research in new methods for digital fabrication.
Dimitris holds a Diploma degree in Architecture from The London Metropolitan University after which he gained working experience for Nikolaos Sideris & Partners in Athens. In 2005, Dimitris relocated back to London where he obtained a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association.
After obtaining his Master degree, Dimitris joined Zaha Hadid Architects where he worked for over 6 years as Senior Designer. With exceptional design and 3-D skills, Dimitris was involved in a range of prestigious projects throughout all design stages and numerous competition entries.
Dimitris joined UHA London in 2012 and was promoted to Associate in 2013. He works on a wide range of projects within the practice, generally focusing on design development during the initial concept stages.
Anshul completed her Master’s Degree in Urban Design in 2013 from the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh USA where she worked on the sustainable city master plan for the city of Kigali in Rwanda, Africa. Before her Master's Degree, Anshul worked with a number of Indian practices including SDEG Architects in Bangalore where she was a Senior Project Architect on residential projects which were exhibited at the 2012 Venice Biennale.
Prior to joining UHA in 2014, Anshul worked with Cooper Carry Architects in Washington DC on 51 acre Landmark mall redevelopment plan in Alexandria and Ballston quarter mixed-use redevelopment project in Arlington. Currently at UHA, her focus is on large-scale urban masterplans and luxury residential developments. She has worked on a 150 acre mixed-use masterplan in sector 61 for IREO in collaboration with LDA Design and Buro Happold London and is now involved with high-end residential projects in Mumbai, Delhi and Cyprus.
Wen-Kai joined UHA in 2014 and specialises in complex 3-D modeling and parametric design. Through the use of software such as grasshopper and Maya ,Wen-Kai is able to rationalise complex geometries and set up fully generative models which can be regularly updated through simple commands which is essential on large masterplan projects.
Wen-Kai has worked for a number of studios in Taiwan including Stonehenge Architects and A+B Studio before taking his master’s degree and graduating in 2009. After completing his master degree, Wen-Kai joined Zaha Hadid Architects where he worked for over 5 years and was promoted to Senior Designer.
Wen-Kai completed his Bachelor Degree in Architecture from Taiwan’s top University, Tamkang University, and his Master Degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association in London. Wen-Kai received an award for outstanding performance on his graduate thesis.
Kunal has over ten years of experience in design development and design co-ordination. He joined UHA London in 2017 to contribute with his strong client liason skills. His ability to maintain good working relationships with both project managers and user groups allow him to effectively deliver high profile architectural projects.
Kunal is familiar working with different disciplines to produce integrated design schemes. He was a key player in the concept development, presentation and design coordination of the Apple Campus in California. His work portfolio spans four continents, showing considerable proficiency with large scale mixed-use Master plans, Corporate offices, in addition to Leisure, Educational and Hospitality projects. Kunal has a keen interest in Sustainability and Urban development.
Junyi Wang studied at the Architectural Association in London where he obtained his master degree with distinction in 2011. After graduating, he joined Zaha Hadid Architects and worked on a range of prominent projects and winning competition bids, including New Beijing Airport and Tokyo National Olympic Stadium and was later promoted to Senior Designer.
After 4 years at Zaha Hadid Architects, Junyi joined Thomas Heatherwick Studio in 2015 where he worked as Design Lead on projects including Google London headquarters, as well as the winning competition for the new Singapore Changi Airport. Junyi joined UHA in 2017 as Associate and specializes in complex 3-D modeling and parametric design.
Petros joined UHA Cyprus in 2017 as Senior Project Manager. He is a Professional Civil Engineer with eight years of experience in Structural Engineering and Project Management roles in the UK and Cyprus. Working in the engineering consulting and building construction industry has allowed Petros to develop vital technical knowledge, design management and commercial skills that are essential for the successful delivery and completion of complex building projects.
Petros has previously worked as Project Manager on a £15 million, 6 storey luxury residential development in London that included the construction of a double basement structure and high-end finishes. He also worked as a structural engineer on residential, retail and commercial projects in London worth £200 million in capital cost. Petros has extensive experience with design procedures and standards such as Eurocodes and British Standards as well as broad knowledge in Quality Management Systems such as ISO9001. His strong management and communication skills enable successful delivery of projects on time and within the specified budget.
Gonçalo Martins Pinheiro took his degree in Architecture with honors from the Lusiada University of Lisbon and then studied Landscape Architecture and Urban Ecology at the University of Lisbon (ISA) and University of Porto (FCUP). In Portugal, he worked with João Luís Carrilho da Graça, Pedro Matos Gameiro and GJP.
Before joining UHA London in 2018, he also worked for RSP in India as Design Director in charge of the DARC (Design and Research Cell) from 2014 to 2017. He’s won both International Architectural Design Competitions and Awards for Built Projects. He was shortlisted for the Secil Architecture Award (Mortuary Houses – Alhandra) and designed the first office building in Portugal to get A+ Energy Efficiency Certification and the European Commission Annual Green Building Award (Natura Towers | MSF HQ - Lisbon). He is a registered architect with both the the United Kingdom ARB and the Portuguese OA.
