With motor racing as its inspiration, the Michael Schumacher World Tower provides residents and guests with the unique feeling of climbing aboard a Formula 1 race car - engineered for excitement, performance and speed.
This signature building form follows the aerodynamic curves and facets of a racing car, wrapped by a 3-dimensional metallic ‘ribbon’ reminiscent of the curves and chicanes of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit – Schumacher’s favourite. This striking emblem becomes a visual link between the two land parcels that form the site, connecting the Tower with the ‘Paddock Club’ leisure facilities and social housing component.
The MSW Tower includes a variety of apartment types that whilst regular in form internally, have curved external terraces to provide natural shading and minimise solar gain. The development embraces passive sustainable principles, maximizing the site’s potential in terms of cross ventilation, rainwater collection and use of local recyclable materials. Large slots on three sides allow natural light and air to penetrate deep into the plan.
A cantilevered helipad - originally a code requirement - allows direct VIP access to the entertainment deck; and a glass dome tops off the building, enclosing an incredible triplex apartment space with observatory. The building’s high-tech appearance belies the simple and traditional technology required for its construction within the restricted budget available.
