This residential development sits on a 4,000m2 plot of land, overlooking the picturesque historic coastal town of Budva in Montenegro. The overall massing is inspired by nearby rock formations and seeks to emulate the scale and geometry of the old quarter of Budva.
The building, organised around a series of equally spaced shear walls, is designed to maximize views towards the Mediterranean Sea to the south, whilst ensuring privacy between apartments. A total of 16 residential units are accommodated, consisting principally of two and three bedroom apartments, all of which are unique in layout, with generous south facing balconies.
The building includes a single level of underground parking with a communal terrace, pool and gym at ground level. Regional stone, tiles and rendered walls are all included within the palette of materials used and re-interpreted to create a distinctively contemporary building that is ‘of-its-place’.
