The Riverdale development in Pune, is a mixed-use masterplan consisting of luxury residential apartments, student housing, corporate offices and amenities, all surrounded by generous landscaped gardens. Approximately 150km south-east of Mumbai, Pune is one of India’s leading IT hubs, and is considered the cultural capital of Maharashtra.
The site is composed of a number of irregular land parcels, divided by primary and secondary roads, and sits on the north bank of the Mutha River.
The key project challenges were to achieve a coherence and consistency for the overall masterplan, despite obvious site constraints: accommodating a precise distribution of over 1430 residential units, ranging from small studios to large five-bedroom apartments, as well as free-standing villas along the riverfront, and over 2,230 parking spaces with the three podium levels.
The design solution developed is a unique skyline profile which adopts a gentle but dynamic curve with perpendicular rows of buildings tapering in height from three 100m highpoints at each extremity of the site, to converge to the lowest point at the centre.
The building profile was inspired by the numerous hillside ridges located around the city and the project concept was further developed by connecting the towers at the top through a series of landscaped bridges creating an interconnected cascade of sky gardens and terraces. The development sits in lush landscaped gardens with water features, sports facilities and swimming pools arranged both on podium levels and at grade.
